SongHubs - pushing Australian screen composers into spooky new worlds

Rescued from solitude, Australian screen composers and songwriters cross pollinate like crazy in Los Angeles hothouse.

APRA AMCOS is the alliance of the major collection societies for musicians. With an annual income of around $470m, they have the resources to run SongHubs, a program of intensive workshops 'which partners emerging and established APRA AMCOS songwriters with renowned international songwriters and producers to create new works for local and international markets', in the words of the website. In 2019 there were fifteen of these crucibles, held as far away as Bali, Berlin, London, Brooklyn and Seoul.
