Call for arts teaching review

Teachers and educators are concerned that the arts curriculum is not being effectively taught in Australian schools.

The National Advocates for Arts Education (NAAE) this week call on politicians to launch a research-based status review to assess how effectively the Australian Curriculum: The Arts has been integrated into Australian schools.

Dr Linda Lorenza formerly the Arts Curriculum officer at the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) who led the consultation process and was Music Australia representative on the NAAE, said that the complexity of implementing a national curriculum lies in the education approach of each state and territory.
