Tertiary arts students have been caught in the crunch as negotiations stall between unions and management over work conditions.
Tertiary students of the creative and performing arts, new media, and film and television, like fellow students in other faculties, are being caught in escalating industrial actions as negotiations stall between management and unions over enterprise bargaining agreements (EBAs). Of the 39 Australian universities, only two, Curtin and Central Queensland, have reached agreement. While the universities, the unions and students have been as one in opposing Federal Government cuts to tertiary funding, the EBAs are internal matters that vary from institution to institution.
