More than a month after their workshop was sold from under them, Tasmanian makers have entered survival negotiations.

Representatives of the 43 artists and craftspeople at the iconic Makers’ Workshop in Burnie met this week with Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Tasmania Janelle Allison in an attempt to determine the future of the workshop, a Burnie tourism attraction and major arts facility for the north-west Tasmanian city.
