Senior Lecturer in Arts and Education at the University of Tasmania Dr Mary Ann Hunter was first a theatre-in-education practitioner at secondary level. As she acquired qualifications and broadened her expertise in Australia and abroad, she has remained close to those early days in her career.

Her most recent initiative is the Curious Schools Project developed with international arts education specialist Arnold Aprill with the support of the Tasmanian Department of Education. The peer-to- peer professional learning tool will serve to showcase the processes of quality teaching through a site planned to go live mid this year and with a series of live events. We are all familiar with presentations of student work in the arts especially but less so with making teaching more visible and valued. The Curious Schools Project is all about shining a light on the creative work of teachers and learners in Tasmania to share around the state and with peers overseas. That project is a cousin of one of her former roles as national evaluator of the Australia Council’s Artists-in-Residence Initiative.
