There’s been a feminist revolution since Cyril Connolly declared the pram in the hall the enemy of good art. Now sometimes it can be the bearer of opportunity.

‘There is no more sombre enemy of good art than the pram in the hall,’ wrote acerbic literary critic Cyril Connelly in his 1938 study Enemies of Promise.

The best part of a century later, much has changed for women artists though much of the arts world still prefers children are neither seen nor heard.
