There is a plethora of courses and degrees available for prospective writing students. But lately we are witnessing a change in the way these subjects are being taught. Emphasis on industry experience and professional development for writers is quickly becoming the new bedrock.

In a field where the number of students dreaming of becoming the next Richard Flanagan or even JK Rowling vastly outnumbers the career opportunities, a practical degree may seem an optimistic concept.
