The benefits of writing are not only reserved for those who can write like Smith, or even those who aspire to ​publication. Writing has an ability to make our thoughts clearer, spark new ideas and creativity, offer solace, meditation and can be a cost-effective form of self-directed therapy.

Developing a regular writing practice can provide individuals with insight into their lives, worries, experiences, and goals by untangling our thoughts and giving us new ones.
