Curators used to study art history but they learned the business of curating on the job. Now there are specialist post-graduate curatorial studies programs ranging from MA/MBA cultural management degrees to PhDs focusing on long-term academic projects. In the past year both Monash University and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) have introduced new curatorial programs, part of an increasing number of institutions adding curatorial studies to their course options.
