Accessible Arts is the peak arts and disability organisation across New South Wales. We are an established, registered, Australian Not For Profit organisation operating across NSW.
At Accessible Arts we aim to make art accessible to all. We believe all artists, art workers and art lovers deserve every opportunity to experience arts how they so choose.
Through our experience in working with a diverse range of audiences with specific needs, we have paved the way in establishing programs that enable people with disability to follow their passion and also enable organisations to ensure their venues are accessible for all to visit.
We provid the following services across New South Wales:
- Disability Inclusion and Equality Workshops are practical and cost-effective, and suitable for participants from arts organisations, non-for-profits, corporate and government.
- Consulting Services, with a focus on access audits and development of Disability Inclusion Action Plans (DIAP), that meet current legislation requirements and implement best practices.
- Artists With Disability Support and Advisory Groups - those who are emerging as professional artists by creating supportive environments in which artists can develop their arts practice and gain business skills
- Advocacy Support - We provide information through our inquiry service, monthly bulletin, website and library to individuals and organisations in the disability and the arts sectors.
We are proud to have conducted Disability Equality Training for these organisations to name a few: Art Gallery of NSW, Blacktown Arts Centre, Musica Viva, Sydney Film Festival, Sydney Festival, Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Museum of Contemporary Art, Kaldour.
Art Gallery of NSW DIAP - Accessible Arts worked with the Art Gallery of NSW to develop their DIAP for 2017 – 2020. The action plan outlines specific access goals in line with the four pillars of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014; attitudes and behaviours, liveable communities, employment and systems and processes. It was important for the Art Gallery of NSW to create an environment that allowed a greater level of inclusion and therefore Accessible Arts created a tailored approach to reaching this objective.
Blacktown Arts Centre DIAP - Blacktown City Council is committed to assisting people with a disability to participate fully in the community. As part of this, Accessible Arts worked with the Council to develop their DIAP specifically for the Blacktown Arts Centre.
