This opportunity has been established through Baw Baw Shire, Cardinia Shire and Latrobe City councils to support the development of a Creative Recovery Program of activities for communities. This will support recovery and resilience-building post the Eastern Fires of February and March 2019.
Nine artists from across the region (3 in each shire) will be contracted to take on the role of Creative Recovery Artist Facilitators, working with affected communities developing creative projects for their shire and region. Through this they will be mentored in the specific requirements of working in trauma impacted communities. They will attend and receive recognised training in Mental Health First Aid, Introduction to Emergency Management, and will learn about the facilitation of community meetings.
This project is in Phase 1 of a 3-phase process for the development and implementation of creative recovery projects across the region over the next two years. It is expected that the Creative Recovery Artist Facilitators will be part of the ongoing development post this Phase 1 contract.
