Expression of Interest - Public Art Project - Hurstville Mural

Calling all professional artists – Hurstville Mural Installation

Georges River Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from professional artists/teams of artists for a mural installation in Hurstville. The aim of the project is to create inspiring temporary public art supporting community identity and to increase the cultural vibrancy of the Georges River area.

The implementation of the Hurstville Mural project will take place at an open space area located on the corner of Dora and MacMahon Street, Hurstville. This space is scheduled to be improved to provide the community with an engaging place to relax and socialise. The design of the area is proposed to be a space for the community with public seating, public amenities and smart station connectivity. This area plays a role in helping to transform Hurstville CBD to create an inviting and vibrant destination, celebrated by our community.

The artwork should respond to Georges River Council’s inclusive and diverse community and reflect Hurstville as the “heart of the city”. A range of media and styles will be considered, however chosen designs will need to be executed in situ.

Artists will be expected to complete the works between the hours of 10.00am and 6.00pm, in the period of Monday 25 May – Friday 19 June 2020.
