Outer Urban Projects

TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS WANTED (VOLUNTEER POSITION) (Expired)

Outer Urban Projects is seeking up to two energetic and committed Board members to work with the existing Board and support the continued growth and development of the company.

In the last six years, under the leadership of Executive Producer Kate Gillick and Artistic Director Irine Vela, Outer Urban Projects has forged a dynamic company delivering a community and artistic program that reflects the face of contemporary Australia. With a fierce commitment to its young artists, a sharply honed artistic framework, robust financial and organisational growth and a Board strong on governance and arts sector advocacy, Outer Urban Projects has earned its place a vital player in Australia’s artistic landscape.

The Outer Urban Projects Board has oversight of the strategic direction of the organisation and ensures compliance with our obligations as a government and philanthropically funded public benevolent institution registered with the ACNC and with DGR status.

The Board is responsible for contributing to the appropriate strategic direction for Outer Urban Projects, as well as for the achievement of the highest standards of governance including ensuring the financial viability, solvency and sustainability of the organisation. The Board also oversees the Artistic Framework for the organisation.

Particular skills and capabilities we are seeking at this time include:

>> Fundraising and philanthropy experience: this may be an experienced professional in fundraising, philanthropy or development in the not-for-profit sector. The ideal candidate would have robust networks in the field, as well as the ability to advise on best practice and assist with setting targets and developing strategy regarding long-term fundraising.

>> Governance: the ideal candidate is experienced in not-for-profit board governance, contributing to the ongoing and important work regarding policy development, best-practice governance and risk mitigation.

We are keen to consider people with a strong understanding of the non-profit and arts sectors, and who have an affinity with organisations working with small resources in terms of budget and staff numbers.

The roles are unpaid and will require attendance at five Board meetings annually, relevant subcommittee meetings and a commitment to using your skills to promote and work for the flourishing of the organisation.

Board terms are for 2 x three year terms with the option of a third term. Meetings are held alternating between our premises in Coburg North.
