Many in NSW are relishing new freedoms this week as that state’s 70% fully vaccinated population takes their first steps out of lockdown. For stage shows this is a welcome new beginning, signalling what performing arts producers hope will be a more permanently open theatre world.

But rather than snapping back to pre-COVID realities, theatres may feel a bit different to before, as the live performance sector prepares for a more open, vaccinated world.
