WA at critical juncture to unlock creative sector potential

Employment opportunities, funding certainty and tapping regional WA may be key to secure the state’s cultural future.

Building more stability and opportunities into the creative sector, alongside a focus on Indigenous culture, performing arts and emerging technologies, have been identified as crucial aspects to strengthen WA’s creative industries. They were the key findings in the latest Creative Industries 2021 report by the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre’s Focus on Industry series.

Co-author Professor Michael Dockery said: ‘The creative enterprises and creative workers represent a resource with great potential for diversifying and growing the WA economy, and simultaneously enhancing the quality of life of Western Australians.’
