Breaking barriers with art in regional Australia

A recent panel at Meeting Place 2021 discussed the arts' significant role in strengthening community in regional Australia.

There’s never been a more urgent moment to deepen community connections, and linking people together through the arts is an effective way to achieve this. Art making activities can build confidence in individuals and also bring people closer together, especially if that’s done through classes, community projects or group exhibitions.

On track – a focus on regional arts, was a recent panel discussion at Meeting Place 2021, Australia’s annual forum on arts, culture and accessibility, where the value of regional arts across Australia was in the spotlight. The panel included Felicity Chapman (Deadly Weavers, QLD), Sue Millis-Frank and Patty Morris (Deaf Indigenous Dance Group, QLD), and Sergei Netchaef (Mental Bowral, NSW).
