Counting the COVID cost to live music and events

Two new reports highlight the sustained financial, and psychological impacts on workers and artists in Victoria’s live events and music industries.

A new report exploring COVID’s impact of the live music sector in Victoria shows that 58% of respondents are considering leaving the industry, while 57% are ‘worried about paying for basics like rent and food.’

Conducted by RMIT University, prepared by Dr Catherine Strong, and commissioned by the Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO) and the Victorian Office for Women, Understanding Challenges to the Victorian Music Industry During COVID-19 recorded 292 responses from across the live music sector.
