Ballerina, teach and dance educator Dame Margaret Scott AC DBE, the founding director of The Australian Ballet School, has died peacefully aged 96.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dame Margaret began her professional dance career with Sadler’s Wells Ballet in London, where she was appointed principal in 1941.
