As 25 December draws nearer and the scramble for gift ideas increases, the  Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is offering a limited-time-only Christmas package deal.

Under the offer, the more tickets purchased the better the discount. The buyer will get 10 percent off for three concert tickets, 15 percent off for four and 20 percent off for five.

Five very different shows are included in the offer from Romanticism to movie music.  The concerts available as part of the deal are Star Trek: Live in Concert, Tchaikovsky, Bryn Terfel and Lisa McCune, Babe: The Twentieth Anniversary Concert and Christmas Carols

Jennifer Poller, Subscriptions Manager at MSO said that concert fans will be spoilt for choice in the upcoming season’s offerings.

‘It is a year that showcases an extraordinary variety of music and a spirit of artistic adventure, has something for anyone that loves classical music and those haven’t explored classical music yet. A lot of these are quite family-friendly, Babe for example and Star Trek, so there is something for everyone,’ said Poller. ‘The more traditional classical music fan will particularly love our Tchaikovsky concert in the Town Hall.’

Star Trek: Live in Concert at The Plenary, features JJ’s Abrams Star Trek, accompanied by a live performance of Michael Giacchino’s score from the series.

For classical music aficionados there is Tchaikovsky and for the vocal music enthusiasts Bryn Terfel and Lisa McCune will bring familiar Broadway melodies to the concert stage.

Babe: The Twentieth Anniversary Concert is a world premiere celebration of the 1995 family movie about a pig who wants to be a sheepdog. The original soundtrack composer Nigel Westlake will perform the film’s score with the MSO.

‘It’s got something that will appeal to every musical taste. So if you just want to see classical music then there is something there for you. But if you wanted to get something for you, something for your grandmother and something for the kids, then you can save money and lock it away nice and early,’ said Poller.
