Demolished Sydney Talk Series

Join some of Australia’s most influential architects, historians, heritage professionals and social commentators to further explore the themes and stories behind the Demolished Sydney exhibition, on at the Museum of Sydney until 17 April 2017.

The final two talks in the Demolished Sydney series focuses on commentary and ideas around the significant demolished sites; Kent Brewery and the State Office Block, exploring their history and evolution.

Now the award-winning Central Park development of shops, offices and apartments, join architect Alexander (Alec) Tzannes AM and curator Dr Charles Pickett to explore the history of the Kent Brewery site in the Last Drinks: From Kent Brewery to Apartment Living talk on Sunday 19th March.

Explore the challenges of conserving late-20th-century buildings in The Black Stump: Valuing the modernist heritage of the State Office Block talk on Sunday 2nd April. Join GML Heritage Associate Jyoti Somerville and Conservation Architect Peter Philips in interrogating changing fashions and ask why we place value on some aspects of our built environment and not others.

All talks include admission to the Demolished Sydney exhibition, on until 17 April at Museum of Sydney.
