This year the festival will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Hellenic Dancers, and pay tribute to the colour, culture and characters that make up the city’s Greek community. WEDNESDAY/TOMORROW - Alex Kondos Memorial Lecture
‘Ancient Crete – Inspiration for Poets and Musicians’ presented by Emeritus Professor Robert (Bob) Milns, School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry, University of Queensland.
An illustrated lecture showing the rich and fascinating mythology arising from and connected with ancient Crete, how the stories have been treated, not only by ancient Greek poets, but by poets from other cultures, and will show by examples how western music has made use of this mythology.

THURSDAY - Cuppa for a Cause – Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea
Hosted by the Greek Orthodox Community of St George Ladies Auxiliary, guests will be treated to a Greek sweet themed morning tea, along with a performance from members of the Hellenic Dancers, to raise funds for the Cancer Council with emcee Jillian Whiting, from Channel 7’s The Great Day out.
