The Cold Reading Series will be hosting a ‘Cold Reading Night’ for emerging playwright on Monday 2 April.
A night at which writers may listen to their work being performed live in front of an audience, providing the environment in which they may scope reactions, the structure of their work, and what is successful and what is not in their written screenplays.
Actors are casted on the night to perform and the event offers the opportunity to gain experience in front of an audience. Simultaneously, the “chance to be a part of a work in progress…can be quite a rewarding experience.”
With authors, playwrights and actors attending the evenings, ‘Cold Reading Night’ offers the perfect opportunity to network and rub elbows with those in the literary and performing industries. Scripts may be sent to the organizers throughout the year as they aid up-and-coming playwrights with their screenplays.
The Cold Reading Series was originally established in Vancouver, Canada, in 1993. Melbourne became the second host of the evenings in 2010.
