Transmoggifying Balrog with Artificial Intelligence – Michael Ensly
Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence has made some major advances in recent years, but far from the cutting edge is the AI for the masses. Pretrained models, public APIs, and freely available scripts allow any coder to dream deep about new ways to apply existing knowledge. Previously difficult problems, such as image classification, have been solved and the solutions are available to everybody.
This talk will show you the journey of how yesterday’s AI came to be in today’s applications, and how today’s AI can be applied to your future applications. A novel use of this technology, gaining insight into the heritage of a moggy kitten named Balrog, will be explored in greater depth to show how easy it is to get started.
Michael Ensly is a Software Developer at Two Bulls who has been working, both professionally and recreationally, with mobile apps since graduating with a degree in astrophysics in 2011. Having identified machine learning as one of the next logical progressions in this space, he became impassioned to find ways in which the technology can be readily applied to a multitude of real-world applications today.
Drones – Just a mean to an end – Maayan Dermer
Maayan is a Melbourne based Embedded Avionics engineer. He has been around the aviation world since he can remember himself – flying RC model since he was 8 and homemade drones since he was 23. With a degree in Computer Science-Mathematics he served for 8 years in the Israeli Army and for 4 years led the R&D avionics team skunk works of IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries – One of the biggest leading manufacture of UAV in the world)
He focused on avionics, propulsion, navigation and guidance systems.
Maayan will try to give us an unseen perspective from the Defence point of view over the UAV industries, how different consideration and limitation are been looked at, how problems are solved and where the industry in heading to.
We will talk about different type of UAVs, payloads, challenges and futurism.
Have Something to Say?
We’re always on the look out for presentations, discussions and demonstrations for BuzzConf Nights. If you have something you’d like to share, please get in touch. You don’t need to have a tonne of experience, just a willingness to share your passion.
Have Something to Show?
You’ll occasionally see a robot spider body, or LED list helmet at BuzzConf events. If you have some exciting tech that you’d like to bring, please do! There’ll be plenty of time during before and after the talks to show it off.
See you in the future!
