ArtPlay encourages professional learning and the sharing of knowledge and ideas through artist learning sessions. Monthly sessions include guest presentations by local and visiting artists, themed interactive workshops and discussion panels. The program is open to artists, parents, educators, arts professionals and any one working with children in the arts.
This month, come and hear from three musicians working with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's (MSO) community-based after-school orchestral program, the Pizzicato Effect. This teaching artist team will explain how the program is inspired by the principles of internationally celebrated El Sistema approach, how their pedagogical approach has developed, and the logistics of delivering an after-school instrumental program to students from a diverse range of schools and backgrounds. The presentation will be of interest to any artists engaging in creative relationships and projects with communities and schools.
The session is free but please book.
