Born Sydney, 1981. Nicola Smith studied at the National Art School, Sydney, and the University of Tasmania, Hobart. In 2006 she was a MacDowell Colony fellowship recipient, New Hampshire, USA, and has been awarded studio residencies at Contemporary Art Services Tasmania (CAST), Hobart, and Lennox Street Studios, Sydney.    

Group shows have been at Hell Gallery (Melbourne), Sawtooth ARI (Launceston), and Feltspace (Adelaide). Solo shows have been at MOP Projects (Sydney), Sydney Guild Studio (Sydney), Salamanca Arts Centre (Hobart), and Sawtooth ARI.
