Putting arts on the election agenda

Cultural officers replacing chaplains, tax-free arts grants and a tax on legalised cannabis are now on the 2016 Federal Election agenda thanks to the first Arts Party policy platform.

Eighteen months after registering the world’s first political party for the arts, the Arts Party is preparing to fight its first Federal Election.

The party aims to be an independent voice for arts, culture and creativity.

Key policies include tripling the arts budget, a program which would bring artists instead of chaplains into schools, and a guarantee of arts education for primary school students.
