Despite the UK’s slow economic growth and high unemployment rates, figures released earlier this month show that the creative industries are bucking the trend and are enjoying an unprecedented boom in growth.
While other sectors continue to struggle, government statistics show that jobs in the creative industries have increased three times faster than the national average, rising by almost 20% since 2011. With upwards of 9.1 million people now employed in this capacity, it is thought that the arts are contributing £84 billion a year to the British coffers, or almost £10 million an hour.
