In honour of the late academic lawyer, writer and educator Deborah Cass, early career writers from a non-English speaking background are invited to apply for the new Deborah Cass Prize.

With generous support from family and friends, this prize aims to help someone from a migrant background find a voice for themselves.

Offered for the first time in 2015, the winning writer will receive a cash prize of $3,000 plus a three-month mentorship with an established writer and the opportunity for publisher Black Inc to consider the resulting manuscript for publication.
