MEDIA RELEASE COURTESY OF: ABC MELBOURNE FESTIVAL RADIO ABC Radio has launched a new temporary digital radio service using its well established partnership with the Melbourne International Arts Festival, to create, ABC Melbourne Festival Radio, the latest special event broadcast offered on digital radio. Although ABC digital radio is only three months old we've already revisited the historic Apollo 11 moon landing mission and taken listeners on a musical trip back to Woodstock to relive the legendary three day peace, love and music festival on its recent 40th anniversary. ABC Melbourne Festival Radio is a first for Australian digital radio, it will be presenting interviews, reviews and performances aggregated from various ABC Radio networks, including 774 ABC Melbourne, ABC Radio National, ABC Classic FM and triple j. This is yet another example of the unique content and specialised programming that can be offered by the ABC through digital radio. The broadcasts will run for the duration of the Melbourne International Arts Festival until Saturday 24 October. Broadcasts will include highlights from 774 ABC Melbourne programs, as well as a daily special two hour program hosted by Richelle Hunt. ABC Radio National, ABC Classic FM and triple j will also contribute specialised content created by the range of reporters covering the Festival. “ABC Radio is recognising the amazing value of the content gathered during an event such as the Melbourne International Arts Festival, by bringing it all together into one place. Not only will the people of Melbourne hear the excitement of the Festival, but using digital radio, it will be available for listeners in other mainland metropolitan cities.” Steve Kyte, ABC Victoria Local Radio and Online manager said today. To listen to ABC Melbourne Festival radio tune your digital radio to “ABC Melbourne Fest” for the next two weeks for interviews, reviews, performances and the best of Festival music.
