About Us

The Wright Theatre School strives to nurture Creative, Confident, Kids by giving them a solid foundation in performance based skills. We know first hand how that can transform and empower a growing young person – who will undoubtedly transfer those skills to all aspects of their life. From musical theatre/disney to modern music/tv shows - we like students to experience a variety of influences!

While they have fun and explore their creativity, students will also learn teamwork, problem solving, and communication skills. Join us as we cultivate imagination, poise, and empathy through artistic self-expression.

WHO ARE WE?

The Wright Theatre School is a family owned business established 2016 by Rachael and Shannon Wright.

"Shannon is Canadian whilst I (Rachael) was born in Australia so we decided to move to Aus, start our little family and wanted to continue our love for teaching.”

The two have an extensive background in theatre and film, as well as having taught theatre/film for multiple performing arts schools in Canada and Australia for the last 10 years.

"Our school is also made up of multiple talented, experienced performers/coaches, each with different specialties and knowledge to pass on to the kids. Having multiple Coaches means that not only can we teach multiple performance based skills but can also cater to different experience levels and provide extra support and encouragement."

WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?

"We believe the performing arts is important to everyone!  Not just those who may wish to pursue a career in it. Kids make real relationships in the theatre. To perform is a vulnerable, humbling experience. When fully embraced it is a fearless abandon of self, an offering to the audience. It’s scary to put yourself out there like that. So you rehearse and you learn and you get better and if you can create an atmosphere of acceptance and encouragement rather than competition, that’s where real growth happens and close friendships are formed. These children try and sometimes fail but it’s always together and there is always something to learn from it.

Acting is always asking you to imagine what it’s like to be someone else and quite often you’re playing extreme versions of reality that are incredibly different from yourself and yet to make them real, believable characters, you have to find empathy or common ground in which you can connect to them in some way. It forces us to think outside of ourselves.

We would like for each child to feel like they have a special place here on Saturdays where they can laugh, learn and be themselves."
