Despite our small population, the Territory has an abundance of writers and a lively literary scene.
The NT Writers' Centre has 250 members throughout the Northern Territory, who range from hobby writers to published authors.
Whatever your writing interests or experience, the NT Writers' Centre can offer you advice and point you in the right direction. We can also assist members to set up writing projects in their communities.
Our current goals are to develop, inform, advocate for and showcase writers and writing of the NT.
We offer writers and readers the dynamic WordStorm Writers' Festival every two years, visiting regional centres and culminating in five days of panels, workshops and events in Darwin. In alternative years Eye of the Storm takes writers and events to selected regions of the territory. With only one and a half staff members this is a big brief, but we have a wonderful committee and volunteer team who help us make it all possible.
The NT Writers' Centre advocates on behalf of writers. I hope word lovers everywhere will enjoy visiting our website and encourage those living in the NT to visit our library, attend an event or workshop, or contact us for further information. Happy writing... Panos Couros, Executive Director.
