The Australian Major Performing Arts Group, or AMPAG, is the umbrella group for Australia's major performing arts companies who inspire millions through theatre, circus, contemporary dance, classical ballet, classical music, opera, musicals and comedy.
As a group, the 28 major performing arts companies in Australia generated ticket sales with a box office revenue in 2012 of $203 million (an increase of $28 million on 2011). Total income from all activities was almost $470 million.
2013 was a very good year for audience arts opportunities and engagement. MPAs' reached a combined performance audience of 3.15 million people, school programs reached 550 thousand students and workshops a further 50 thousand people.
