Established in 2015 by the Nan Hai Media group, 541 Art Space is an up and coming gallery dedicated to promoting artistic and cultural dialogue between Australia and China. From exhibitions displaying established and international artists, to shows of local collaborations and emerging artists, the gallery is committed to engaging audiences in the richness and diversity of contemporary art.
Situated in the heart of Sydney’s CBD the gallery is located on Level 1 of 541 Kent Street, only a short walk from China Town, Darling Harbour and Town Hall Station. With its innovative, modular interior design, the gallery provides artists a rare opportunity to customise the space to best display their body of work.
The gallery hosts monthly exhibitions, and through their community involvement has been fortunate to work collaboratively with Art Month, City of Sydney, Beijing Culture & Arts Fund, Sydney’s Chinese Lunar Festival, and more. Artists presented include internationally famous artist Lao Shu, Wynne Prize finalist Chee Yong, award-wining Australian artist Elefteria Vlavianos, and Mosman Art Prize winner Fan Dongwang.
With plans to continue hosting bigger and bolder exhibitions throughout 2018, 541 Art Space continues to develop as a member of Sydney’s contemporary art scene. Admission to the gallery is free, as are most of the exhibitions and events.
Established in 2011, the Nan Hai Media Group is Tencent and WeChat’s official representative in the Oceanic region and specialises in hosting PRC arts, cultural performance tropes and publishing Chinese-language media. They are affiliated with Australia-Chinese Vogue, China News Agency, Bank of China and Air China.
