A position for a non-executive director – marketing has
Expressions of Interest are sought from experienced
marketing professionals who have a passion for the arts,
education and the betterment of the Australian community
with a strong desire to make a difference to a small charity
and not for profit in Australia’s jazz scene.
This position offers the successful applicant the opportunity to
make a positive contribution to an organisation that
demonstrates Australia’s jazz and improvised music excellence
as well as paving the way for young women and young artists
SIMA is seeking:
- An experienced marketing professional, ideally with strong
relationships with creative agencies
- Experience in PR/Communications and media
- Ideally,experience in digital transformation and successful
- Knowledge of fundraising and commercialisation an
advantage but not essential
- Love of music and jazz an advantage but not essential
The board meets in the evening, usually six times a year at the
Seymour Centre, Sydney.
The position is voluntary.
Sydney Improvised Music Association Inc (SIMA) is committed
to facilitating the performance of contemporary jazz and
improvised music. We aim to be recognised as the leading
national contemporary jazz organisation, through our ability to
program music of excellence for existing and new audiences,
and our support of a vibrant jazz culture in Sydney and
The Sydney Improvised Music Association Inc. (SIMA) is a not
for profit incorporated association. Formed in 1984 but is hard
to overestimate the importance of SIMA to the Sydney jazz
scene. The number of gigs it has organised in that time is also
impressive but raw figures don't begin to tell the whole story.
The organisation has been a crucial anchor for improvised
music in the city, a constant and dynamic presence.
For more than 30 years SIMA has proven remarkably resilient.
The best bit is that the story is far from over, there is a lot
more music to come.
