Brisbane Festival has announced that David Berthold’s tenure as Artistic Director of the Festival has been extended to five years. Berthold, who was due to finish his four-year term with Brisbane Festival in 2018, will now curate a fifth festival in 2019.

‘I was very pleased to be asked to extend my time at Brisbane Festival, and thrilled to be able to accept the offer,’ Berthold said. ‘International arts festivals are huge, complex organisms and being able, now, to shepherd five into life for Brisbane is a joy and privilege. Brisbane Festival has grown enormously in recent years, and I’m really looking forward to working with everyone to ensure that it continues to blossom for audiences, artists and all who participate in its life.’
