Welcome to North Sydney Community Centre!
North Sydney Community Centre is a vibrant hub of activity with a huge amount of dynamic activity including the Northside Produce Market, adult classes and workshops, community events, Explorer's Playgroup and After School Care.
At North Sydney Community Centre we are very proud of our reputation – not only for our programs, but also of our people, our committee, our students, our tutors, our volunteers. We want to shout loud, cry from the rooftops, get people over here, get people to have fun, and have a great experience – from the first point of contact throughout their experience with us.
Some people have been coming to the Centre for 45 years; grandparents who brought their children now bring their grandchildren. We are here for the long haul.
We are financially sustainable; we are thrifty, responsive to our community. We fundraise so that we contribute to programs for refugees and asylum seekers, the environment and sustainability and social issues. We run a hugely successful annual Food Drive for the House of Welcome, thanks to our wonderful and generous community, both local and across Sydney. We run community working bee days with Zonta to make breast cushions or to pack hundreds of birthing kits that are sent around the world. We produce regular 'In Conversation' events such as 'Creative Women' and 'Death and Dying' as well as regular film screening and Q&A opportunities.
Embedded in our values is a commitment to social justice, freedom of expression, we want to give everyone an opportunity to find a niche with us.
No matter where you’re from, or what you do, or who you are.
At the Centre we try to make an impact on our community – we are creating a space that people want to visit and engage with – whether you’re a grandparent happy to don a bright pink wig for playgroup dress ups, a working parent juggling life, work and what to do with kids after school, a foodie looking for the best and most delicious seasonal produce, or if you have a love of the artisan, the home grown, or the handmade or if you’re just after a good time or to learn some new tricks coupled with an opportunity to meet like minded souls in a weekly class or weekend workshop – maybe in the art room, the choir, a music class, tai chi or cooking – we are THAT place.
Absolutely unique, there aren’t many places in the world like our little Centre.
