AFTRS-Australian Film Television and Radio School

About the Course

The MA Screen: Business and Leadership is a transformational program that provides students with the skills and knowledge to succeed and thrive as leaders in today’s fast-moving screen business environment.

The ability to adapt and thrive are defining features of successful companies. Offering a unique blend of creative leadership and business essentials, in this course you will learn the latest approaches to managing creativity, applying leadership principles to your own workplace and career pathways. By the end of the MA Screen: Business and Leadership, you will have discovered your own unique leadership style; how to shape a working business model; and, crucially, you will also have an understanding of how to persuade people to their cause.

The course is practical, high-level, current and collaborative.

We draw our teachers from industry, mixing theory with practice, never losing sight of the reality of the contemporary media business sector. Using real-life case studies, you will analyse problems, devise solutions and figure out how to sell them. The course ensures consistent engagement with the industry and the latest thinking and modelling is delivered by current business leaders.

Join with colleagues who are starting or building a company or are facing a particular problem in their current role. We work together, teachers with students, sharing what we know, researching what we don’t know. It’s a collaboration that continues beyond the course, into the future, an enduring network of friendships and business connections.

The course is structured to suit working people. It’s delivered part-time over two years, with seven three-day weekends and a five-day project workshop each year.
