About the Course
Is the fast changing world of file-base cameras and data wrangling doing your head in? Do you KNOW you have to get across it, but feel overwhelmed by all the acronym-laden, “geek-speak” coming at you?
This one-day course, with our favourite “geek” Mark Stewart-Pearson, will help you untangle all that info and teach you what you need to know.
If you are a Producer, Production Manager, Editor, Assistant Editor or anyone who has to manage or work in a post-production environment, then you will get a greater understanding of file-based media and taking advantage of file-based workflows in the edit suite from this course.
Participants will cover historical and current formats including file-based codecs, metadata and how to handle multiple formats on one production. Media Management and liaising with the on-set production crew as well as best practices for documentation and naming conventions will be also be addressed.
The course will deal with topics including:
• Managing data in the edit suite
• Identifying data from various cameras such as DSLRs, Red, Sony EX, P2, GoPro etc.
• Managing LUTs, Raw data and other image types (see told you there was lots of acronyms)
• Correct digital formats for editing and delivery
• Intermediate formats for exchange with other departments
• File-based Workflows
• Post-Production Pathways
• Broadcast standards for delivery
• Digital Asset Management
• Archive and backup for file-based media
• Shared Workflows for Avid, Adobe Premiere and FCP
Practical demonstrations, data delivery and distribution channels and an opportunity for Q&A will also be covered.
NOTE: THIS COURSE DOES NOT COVER ON-SET DATA WRANGLING, WHICH IS COVERED IN ANOTHER COURSE, DATA WRANGLING ON SET: FILE BASED CAMERAS
