What's on - Flickerfest 2012 Call for Entries

Flickerfest 21st International Australian Short Film Festival

6th –15th January 2012, then touring nationally from January to March 2012

Flickerfest, Australia’s only Academy® Award accredited and BAFTA recognised Short Film festival, and its largest short film competition, is accepting entries from around the world, for the 2012 Festival, celebrating 21 years of the best short films from around the world. Flickerfest will screen for 10 days at Bondi Beach in January 2012 before heading off on a national tour..

For 2012, the Festival will have five competitive programmes:

International
Australian
Documentary
GreenFlicks – for films with an environmental focus or theme – open to films from anywhere in any genre.
FlickerUp - an inaugural National youth competition for films from primary and secondary school students or filmmakers under 18 years year of age across Australia.

As well as a number of special showcases and forums out of competition.


An international jury will award the following prestigious awards and prizes:

The Flickerfest Award for Best Short Film (Academy® Accredited)
Yoram Gross Award For Best Animation Short Film (Academy® Accredited)
plus a host of other Awards and Industry prizes valued at over 50k celebrating excellence in the short film form.

Films must be under 35 minutes & have been completed within 2 years of the closing dates.

Films must be in English or have English subtitles. Due to the competitive nature of the Festival, Flickerfest prefers Australian premieres and films that have not been broadcast or made available for download in Australia. The premiere guideline does not apply to FlickerUp School Shorts.

ENTRY DEADLINES:
Australian and International entries must be received by 5pm, FRIDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER 2011
GreenFlicks and FlickerUp National School Student Competition entries must be received by 5pm, FRIDAY 22nd OCTOBER 2010
