Theatre lovers who want to see more shows come to their town are invited to a free community forum on Friday February 10th, 2-4pm at the Chapel Theatre in Glen Innes.
Hosted by Critical Stages NSW, Arts North West and Glen Innes Arts Council, this is an opportunity for people from across the region to discuss independent theatre touring in regional NSW.
As a bonus, Critical Stages NSW are also offering a free acting master class with well-known Australian stage actress Wendy Strehlow, held on the morning of the forum.
We would like to start an open discussion about the theatre culture in your local area, how we can build your audiences and what you would like to see come to your communities Critical Stages NSW is funded by Arts NSW to produce, develop and manage tours of high quality independent theatre productions. They are particularly keen to offer more touring shows to towns in the New England Region.
This forum is for absolutely anyone interested in theatre. We’re hoping people come along from communities of all sizes, from towns with and without traditional theatre venues. It’s for people from theatre groups and arts councils but also service clubs, progress and business associations, commercial venues or people just with a personal interest in seeing more great theatre and stage performances happen locally.
This is also a chance for Regional Arts Boards to hear what some of the issues might be across the region around touring theatre and what kinds of extra support might be needed.
The bonus acting master class is open to anyone aged 16 and up. Wendy Strehlow will work with performers to develop skills in bringing characters from the page to the stage, responding and analysing scripts and looking at how to convey a character''s story. People can attend the class or the forum or both. The forum and the master class are both FREE.
