by:Larm is Scandinavia's largest music conference and consists of two parts: a festival and a conference. It is the most important conference and showcase event for the wider Nordic music industry.
The festival concerts take place at night and are open to the public. The main focus is to present artists that are on the verge of success, either in their homelands or internationally.
At the inception of by:Larm back in 1998, the event was a conference for the music industry with a few showcases in the evenings. The live side of the event has since exploded and is probably what most people associate with the name by:Larm.
An important part of this is that by:Larm LIVE is open to the public. The business orientated side of the event is in rude health and takes place mostly in the daytime at the main conference hotel.
Most of the participating clubs are located in the area around Youngstorget in Oslo's city centre.
