Every area and ethnic group in Indonesia has a marvellous diversity of cultural expression. From the Exotic to the Everyday presents a range of cultural materials from the most well known in the batik and wayang of Java to lesser known examples like the fascinating cloths and decorative arts of Sumba.

The exhibition pays modest homage to the cultural richness of the regions of Sumatra, Sulawesi, Bali, Flores, Lombok, Timor and West Papua, by giving you a tantalising taste of the exotic through their jewellery, dance costumes, as well as the more hidden aspects of everyday life in
household objects.
