INFLIGHT is an Artist Run Initiative (ARI) based in Hobart, Tasmania. Centered on a gallery exhibition venue, which hosts projects by individuals and groups, as well as other collaborative activities and events, it is located at 100 Goulburn Street on the fringe between the CBD and West Hobart.
Operating since 2003, INFLIGHT exhibits experimental contemporary art produced by local, national and international artists.
Their current exhibition is from artist Sarah Jones. You'll Always Be My # 1 explores the pathos of self-improvement, misplaced ambition and the fetishised trophy. The artist positions herself as both protagonist (winner) and object (trophy) examining identity, ambition and desire within the search for victory, and how success itself is invented and defined.
Sarah Jones is a curator, artist and writer. She was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tasmania, School of Art in 2007. Some of her recent curatorial projects include: The Hobart Urban Illumination Project as part of Iteration:Again, Tasmania, 2011 trophywife Death Be Kind, Melbourne, 2011 and Erotographomania at CAST Gallery, Hobart, 2011.
