Topic 1: Web usability snapshot

How do we read online (or not?). Learn how the way that we interact with our devices impacts the way we absorb information – and informs the way we should prepare our content.

Topic 2: The 9 golden rules for preparing magnificent web copy!

Work through a breakdown of the critical do’s and don’ts of writing and preparing compelling digital content. Covers target audience, voice and tone, page structure and layout, scannability, e-copywriting essentials, hyperlinking tips, headline hints, navigation labelling, and search engine optimisation (SEO) basics.

Topic 3: Web edit in action

Watch how a piece that was written for print gets converted into an online document by drawing all the rules together. Magnificent!

AFTERNOON SESSION

Topic 4: E-newsletters and Electronic Direct Mails (EDMS) unplugged

Learn editing secrets for getting busy readers to view your messages through their in-box clutter! Covers e-newsletter preparation, subject lines and EDM layout.

Topic 5: Writing tips for social media

There’s a lot of chattering going on out there, and what you say and how you write it can really impact the way people perceive your business or organisation. Review live examples from Facebook, Twitter and blogs with a critical eye and learn how to enhance your own social media efforts.
