MEDIA RELEASE COURTESY OF: THE ARTS CENTRE

The Arts Centre has a variety of activities designed especially for kids throughout March and April, including Damian Callinan’s first show for kids, free interactive portrait events, vegetable puppet workshops and Postcards from Nanna, a story concert for kids, grown-ups and Nannas alike. The details are below.

Postcards from Nanna

When Nanna sets out on a big adventure in Betty the Bubble Caravan - with Ruby Big Dog and Pauline the Parrot as her travel companions – fur and feathers fly in a series of escalating musical misadventures. Featuring funky folk/pop songs, this is a bumpalicious story concert for kids, grown-ups and Nannas alike, about learning to love the ways that we’re different. Part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Dates: Tuesday 30 March – Saturday 3 April
Tickets: $16 (family ticket of four $56)

Damian Callinan is Babysitting

Damian has agreed to babysit the audience. But he thinks there will only be two of you. When this award-winning comedian walks out onto the stage he’ll discover the truth: a room chock full of people waiting to be entertained. Not only that, he will have to contend with a giant 2D baby, a red cordial addict and a depressed Wiggle. Please don’t tell him or he won’t show up! Part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Dates: Tuesday 6 – Sunday 11 April
Tickets: $16 (family ticket of 4 $56)

Vegetable Puppet Workshops
With Black Hole Theatre

Who says a carrot’s just for eating? Why not make it rhumba? Stage a battle of the beetroots! Learn to animate the most unlikely produce in this puppet workshop.
Dates: Tuesday 6 – Sunday 11 April
Tickets: $14 (accompanying adult FREE)

Picture Us

Have your headshots taken in our specially designed photobooth and build your family portrait with our wacky collection of body parts to become part of a marvellous mural of diverse and wonderful families. When you’re done, we’ll take a photograph of your family portrait so you can take it home!
Dates: Tuesday 30 March – Saturday 3 April
Tickets: FREE

Venue for all of above: the Arts Centre, 100 St Kilda Road, Melbourne VIC
