$10,000 for Truth in Art awards

Are you an artist who is passionate about the environment and health?

The Truth in Art Awards is now calling for entries from both high profile artists and the general community keen to explore artistically ‘the inconvenient truth’ of climate change, which is already affecting the environment and the health and wellbeing of society.

The awards have been launched by Parks Victoria, the Australian Conservation Foundat
ion, Climate Positive, Parks Forum, Regional Arts Victoria, mecu and CO2 Australia.

The award winners will be announced at the ground breaking international Healthy Parks Healthy
People Congress in Melbourne from April 11 to 16 2010.

Mark Stone, CE of Parks Victoria, said: “Climate change will be a major cross cutting theme at
the Congress, with international delegates bringing the latest research and evidence about the links between nature and health and the way climate change is already affecting these sectors.

“We are particularly keen to receive artwork linking people, parks and climate change and which also provides ideas for solutions to climate change, thereby offering a new
voice to the debate at the Congress.”

Judges include business leader Janet Holmes à Court AC and arts patron Guy Abrahams. There
will also be a People’s Choice Award via public on-line voting.

Entries to the Open and Youth (under 16 years) categories can include digital photographs and
digital reproductions of artwork such as paintings, sculptures and drawings. Multiple entries arepermitted and entrants will be able to tag their work as well as comment on the work of others.

The prize pool on offer is over $10,000.
