Are you an emerging musician or band from Melbourne’s West? Ready to take over the world…? Then, we want you!

As part of Footscray Community Arts Centre’s exciting partnership with St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, The Very West is a professional development initiative designed to support emerging musicians from Melbourne’s western suburbs. The Very West will offer local, unsigned and unheard of bands, and/or musicians an opportunity to strut their stuff to a panel of music industry professionals at a public showcase event.

The act judged ‘most ready to take the next step’ will be awarded a year-long professional development program which includes:

• A performance slot at the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Melbourne in February 2011, where the winners have the chance to give it all they’ve got in front of thousands of music loving fans
• A mentorship with Footscray Community Arts Centre

Winning The Very West 2010 could kick-start your journey into the professional music industry!

Musicians and bands must be unsigned from the western region of metropolitan Melbourne and be available for meetings, media opportunities and a performance at the designated dates (see below). All showcasing artists will receive constructive feedback from the industry panel members and will have the invaluable opportunity to network during the showcase.

Applications open Wednesday 1 September and close at 5pm on Friday 1 October, 2010.

The selected artist/s will play the Melbourne edition of St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival on Sunday 6 February, 2010.
