For the past decade David Corbet and Jacob Lehrer have been making work as a contemporary dance duo.
In 2006, after a successful season of work at the Australian Choreographic Centre (which garnered them an Australian Dance Award nomination), they decided to make an entry into the US dance world, and initially made connections with dance organisations in New York City.
As part of their approach, they decided to harness user-powered content portal YouTube as a way of allowing curators and producers immediate access to footage of their work.
The YouTube strategy turned out to be an integral part of confirming performance dates in New York, as part of the Movement Research Festival in December 2006. While it was possible to send a DVD, the online option allowed immediate access for the presenters and lower cost for David and Jacob.
