The Melbourne International Film Festival today announced that the 2010 festival will be the last for Executive Director Richard Moore.

Taking this opportunity for an organisational restructure to bring MIFF into line with many other local and International arts organisations, the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) Board will in the near future look to recruit two new positions – a CEO and a Festival Director – to bring MIFF forward into its 60th anniversary in 2011 and beyond.

On behalf of the Board of MIFF, Chairperson, Claire Dobbin thanked Richard Moore for his dedication and service to the Festival over the last four years; “During Richard’s tenure, MIFF has continued to grow and flourish with 2009 the biggest MIFF ever. Richard’s artistic stewardship of the festival has reaffirmed MIFF’s reputation for creative and relevant programming.

The Board thanks Richard and his team for their dedication to the festival.” “The next few years are an exciting time for the Festival. After MIFF 2010, the newly-created CEO role will assist MIFF in this next phase of its development to maximise and consolidate its potential.”

“The last four years have been an incredibly rewarding time at MIFF culminating in last year’s very exciting festival. But after four years it is now a good time to look ahead to other challenges post MIFF 2010”, added Executive Director, Richard Moore. The new organisational structure will enable MIFF to continue its growth and to enhance Melbourne’s reputation as a centre for creative industries.

Further announcements about the recruitment process will be made shortly. The 2010 Festival will run 22 July – 7 August.

The Festival’s market, MIFF 37ºSouth Market, will run from 22 – 25 July.
