Artistic opportunities in Geelong with Incube8r

Residents of the Bellarine Peninsula can no longer bemoan the lack of opportunities for practicing artists. Opening in Geelong’s CBD will be a brand new incube8r gallery, an artist run space which will allow local artisans to exhibit their wares.

The cost effective art bazaar will form part of a national community. Incube8r began as an innovative project in Fitzroy, Melbourne, but has since spread to Sydney and Queensland and has thrived.

The initiative celebrates local art and allows the artists to hold on to all of their profits and has become not only beneficial for local artists, but also for gallery founder Isy Galey, who has gone from strength to strength with the success of the franchise.

Opening Saturday, 8 October, the Geelong space will be host over 90 local artists. The space will be used as a local hub, enabling artists to use specialised craft facilities installed in the space, as well as a space for exhibition, art classes and community functions.

Within the facility, three jeweller’s workbenches in individual secured lockable rooms with a wash basin in each are available to rent. A number of other lockable glass cubicles, racks, open shelves, wall space and partitions will be made available to the artists to showcase their designs.
